¡LAS MUJERES DECIMOS BASTA!
Nada justifica la violencia hacia las mujeres, sin embargo, día a día centenares son maltratadas y muchas asesinadas por sus parejas o ex parejas, tras largas historias de amenazas y castigos que no fueron sancionados a tiempo.
Dentro y fuera de la familia, las mujeres somos violentadas de múltiples formas: acosadas sexualmente en el trabajo y en las calles, en las escuelas y universidades, estereotipadas y objetualizadas en la publicidad, violentadas sexual, psicológica y económicamente, y como expresión última de este continuo de violencia, asesinadas. Esto es el femicidio, la manifestación más extrema de violencia contra las mujeres.
La transición democrática postergó los derechos de las mujeres. La promulgación de la nueva Ley de violencia intrafamiliar que, entre otras medidas, tipifica el delito de ‘maltrato habitual’, físico o psicológico, salda en parte la deuda histórica que el Estado chileno tiene con las mujeres.
Sin embargo, es indispensable reconocer, prevenir y sancionar las diferentes formas de violencia que recaen sobre las mujeres heterosexuales, lesbianas y trans, las indígenas y migrantes, las trabajadoras, las niñas, las jóvenes y las ancianas, en sus relaciones públicas y privadas.
El Estado debe cumplir cabalmente los compromisos adquiridos a través de los tratados internacionales vigentes en el país. Quien asuma el próximo gobierno y quienes resulten elegidos en el Parlamento, y el poder judicial, tienen la obligación de dar cuenta pública de su gestión y sus resultados ante la ciudadanía. Las organizaciones de mujeres estaremos vigilantes de que esto se cumpla.
Los medios de comunicación y todas las Instituciones de la sociedad son también responsables de promover los cambios culturales necesarios para la erradicación de la violencia contra las mujeres. De otra forma seguirán siendo cómplices de este delito.
La Red Chilena Contra la Violencia Doméstica y Sexual, organizaciones feministas y de mujeres, convocamos a una marcha nocturna para manifestar nuestra decisión de no tolerar en nuestras relaciones públicas y privadas ninguna forma de violencia sexista.
